From our Feedback forms we found out a number of insights into our music video from an audience we showed our video to.
From all of our audience feedbacks the impression of what the audience got from the band was a ‘rock band’ this was the impression that we were hoping for the audience to get we also hoped that the band would be able to relate to the target audience, judging by the comments on the feedback form we achieved this ‘the band don’t take themselves too seriously, enjoy having a laugh and like being involved during the filming of their own videos.’ This shows that our band shots were effective to the audience as they enjoyed watching them.
Out of the 10 people 9 people found the interesting and there was an interest kept throughout the video, many of the comments on the feedback forms had the same comment for this question story continued and didn’t stall.‘ This feedback shows that even though our narrative was simple it kept the audience interested throughout the video, this shows the narrative was effective to the target the audience.
The other comment we got about if the video was interesting was ‘Kind of’ this was not completely negative and the viewer gave us constructive criticism to make the music video more interested, this was ‘to use shorter clips of footage’ so if were to re do this project again we could look in making the shots and the cuts shorter to keep the audience more interesting.
All of our feedback forms indicate that the narrative was easy to follow as one of the questions on the feedback questions asked the audience if they understood the narrative of the video, as all of their feedback had the narrative we was hoping the audience would perceive.
The narrative brings me to if the visuals on screen match to the lyrics of the song, all of the feedback forms informed us that the visuals linked in with the lyrics of the songs, is what we was aiming for our target audience, as the target audience were going to be young.
As our target audience are of teenagers we hoped that the audience we gave our feedback forms to would think to see this music video that our target audience will most likely see, from our feedback results this seems to be the case as many of the audience answered that they would see the music video on the internet, a media technology our target audience use a lot. Having the feedback that it would been seen on the Internet shows us that choosing to create a band MySpace page was the correct move as many of the audience would expect to see the video on the internet and having a band MySpace allows this.
Other places our audience would expect to see our music video was on popular music channels such as MTV, VIVA, THE BOX, these music channels are also channels that our target audience are more than likely to watch.
After watching the video 5 of the 10 audience participants would go out and buy the bands single, two of them were maybe’s and the 3 remaining people said no, due to this was not their type of music, they however took interest into the music video, but from this is shows that people don’t like the same music genre.
Overall the feedback we got from our audience was positive towards our music video as everybody enjoyed it and understood the narrative, the audience did offer us some constructive criticism this was to improve the acting skills of the actors that we used in the video to make the narrative more believable. The audience also suggested for us to have more variation in band shots and more transitions used to make the video more interesting and to keep the viewer interested all the way throughout. The final improvement we could make is for better lip-syncing and that the singer should be confident in himself. These are all improvements that we would take into consideration if was to make another music video. They are also improvements we did not see we could make showing that our feedback from provided us with changes we couldn’t see.
