Video analysis - Take On Me, A-Ha

Take On Me A-Ha music video was produced twice, once with the band performing with a blue background however the second video was directed by Steve Barron, this video is much more famous than the first video and is what the band is most famous for making it.
The lyrics and the visuals in the video do have a relationship with each other yet it is less unseen that some music videos, the main theme of the video is a romantic fantasy narrative, which comes across in the video. As the first time that the song lyric ‘take on me’ is said the cartoon strip that the women is reading comes to life and she takes his hand therefore taking on him. The lyrics again have a relationship when they are running away from the police and holding his hand whilst running again taking on him.
There are only certain lyrics that have a relationship with the visuals in the music video, as the time when it was produced the video is more based on the technology they have used to make it as no one had ever done this before. Although the music video does have a narrative though out the video there is also some performance based as you do see flashes of drums and the rest of the band in the video.
The pace of the video does not go with the music of the video at the begaining, the start of the video is slow pace compared to the music I believe, the pace of the music video then picks up and goes with the pace of the music, the pace of the video goes with narrative of the video and this is why it is a little slower at the begaining of the video
