Comparison Nirvana and Patti Smith
Both of these music videos artists perform these songs in two very different genres of music already suggesting that the music videos will both be very different based of the conventions of the different genres.
Niarvans take on the song and video is very rock and roll, being a very dark video with low lighting and performance/ narrative based video. The target audience for Nirvana's video is obviously teenagers as it is shown through out the video focusing on teenagers in the video and being set in a school hall.
The pace of the video relates to the pace of the song, having much shorter shots, being fast again showing that its a rock genre.
Where as Patti Smith interoperation of 'Smells like teen spirt' is in the folk, alternative genre. It is very different music video in comparison to Nirvana. The location in which it is set in is a home, and the pace of the song is much slower and the transitions from shot to shot are slower to fit the pace of the music.
